GPM opens two community projects in Gombak, Kuala Lumpur

Global Peace Mission (GPM) Malaysia has opened two community projects in Gombak, Kuala Lumpur; one for the local Malay community and another for the Rohingya community.

The Malay community at Kampung Kerdas, Gombak with 15 participants, are being trained in baking cookies in commercial quantities to serve the lucrative market during the Fasting season. Another 15 participants are given training in tailoring also for similar purpose as people crave for new clothes during Ramadhan, especially for the Hari Raya festival.

The Rohingya community, who are stateless people, originally from Arakan, Myanmar (Burma) with 20 participants are being taught the arts and techniques of organic or natural farming, including the preparation of natural fertilizers. The fertilizer is made from indigenous materials that are readily available in the market and some in the backyards. They are being trained to plant vegetables and spices on any available spaces or surrounding to save on food supplements.
